Think About What You Think About

Think About What You Think About

What are you thinking about?

It turns out, “thought” is more powerful than you might have thought. Do just a little online research and you’ll discover thought is powerful and creative. You’ll find the Einstein quote, “Imagination is more important than knowledge…” Or, if you venture down the philosopher’s trail Soren Kierkegaard is quoted as saying, “Our life always expresses the result of our dominant thoughts.”

Yet, well before these smart people discovered the power of thoughts, the Bible was proclaiming it!

“…for as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” – Proverbs 23.7

“…take every thought captive to obey Christ.” – St Paul (2Cor 10.5)

“…be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” – St Paul (Romans 12.2)

For God gave us a spirit – not of fear – but of power, love and self-control.” – St Paul (2Tim 1.7)

And the primary focus for our time of worship, “What things are true, whatever is honorable, what is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” – St Paul (Philippians 4.8)

This, our second to last theme for the “Anxious for Nothing” worship series, brings us to God’s call to allow his Holy Spirit to focus our thoughts and be transformed; to be renewed by new thoughts in our mind!

God’s invitation is for you to think about it!

Peace,

Karl
