Who on earth would call a sacrificial death, a time “to be glorified?”
Who on earth would love his life by losing it?
Who on earth hates his life here in comparison to the hope of eternal life?
Two answers: Jesus and You!
In this week’s sermon entitled, “Sowing Lessons” it’s now Jesus’ turn to use a seed as metaphor for the spiritual journey from fearful to cheerful. His point? In the same way a seed dies (is buried) and comes to life as plant/fruit with multitudinous seeds, so is dying to self and being born again self-less.
It’s not difficult to die to self. It’s impossible.
It’s not difficult to live self-lessly. It too is impossible.
That’s why Jesus sent the Spirit! It is what he does within us! It is what we’ll witness together in the baptism of Victor Herrera in worship. It’s what the Spirit does within us when we ask Him to do what would be impossible for us – but is everyday stuff for God…die to self and live self-lessly.
Ask the Spirit to lead you to die to self and live self-lessly in your worship offering! Ask the Spirit to make it the top priority; an intentional percentage of your income (10% if you’re heart is ready) and watch how that same Spirit leads you to cheerful generosity!
Read John12.200-25 and Romans 8.1-8 for God’s own “Sowing Lessons”!
