On Memorial Sunday We’re Honoring First Responders

In our remembering, we honor!

In our honoring, we give thanks to God!

This Sunday’s worship has a decidedly civic and patriotic tone as we honor our governing authorities (Romans 13.1); the work of our civil servants and the sacrifice of our First Responders.

The prophet Jeremiah was instructed by God to “Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” – God (Jeremiah 29.7) We will honor those who move toward danger for our sake…praying for their welfare and ours.

The zenith of our worship will come as we honor the authority, servant-hood and sacrifice of Jesus. (John 10.14-18) Ultimately, we surrender to his governing authority, give thanks to God for His Servant heart and are redeemed by His powerful sacrifice in his crucifixion. It is from His work that our lives flow and to whom we pray for the sacrifice of many – including the First Responders whom we honor this weekend.

Our Sunday schedule this weekend will begin with worship at 10:00AM (taking a Holiday weekend break from our Bible Study hour).  You should see some First Responder vehicles in our parking lot illustrating the theme of the day!

After worship Peace is hosting a luncheon in honor of our First Responders. Our Chief Cook, Tony Mount is cooking up more lunch than brunch so plan on staying, personally thanking our First Responder!

May the Lord bless our time together for a memorable Memorial Weekend celebration!

See you in worship, Good Lord willing,

Karl
