Labor Day Weekend has dual purpose this year for us Floridians, doesn’t it?
We’ll pay tribute to American workers and thank God for their work yesterday and today. And, as the peak of hurricane season stirs, we’ll be taking precautions and laboring to prepare for a hurricane making landfall on our Florida shores.
Labor Day provides a great platform to honor hardworking men and women – and we’ll use it to proclaim and distinguish the Biblical connection and distinction of faith and good works. Faith alone saves, while good works naturally follow! (Revelation 14.13)
Secondly, labors related to hurricane preparation are in order this weekend. Be careful, safe and secure taking every precaution. And both before, during and after, remain confident in the Lord’s shelter – both your physical and spiritual shelter. Read and pray Psalm 91 with me “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.”
If the forecast is too hazardous, we’ll suspend worship this Sunday. But whether or not it is officially cancelled or not, if you are uncomfortable about your journey, stay put and we’ll look forward to the company of the saints next Sunday, September 8th.
Let’s experience God’s Word together whether that be at home or in worship!
