What Happens In You When Light Meets Darkness: Part 2

What Happens In You When Light Meets Darkness: Part 2

So, I was showing off the latest option in my new Chevrolet Impala. It was called, “Onstar.” All I had to do was press a button on my dash and a real human would answer and say, “Hello Mr. Galik, what directions can I provide today?” (or something like that).
I gave the voice coming from my dash the name of my destination – which was a Country Club where my son Dave and his new wife Ann were having their wedding reception. My car was full of family dressed up for an evening of celebrating, toasting and dancing. It was one of those treasured family days with a car full of happy people.
The only problem was I provided incorrect information to the human on the speaker phone. She politely sent the directions to the car’s navigation system, and I (somewhat smugly) drove on proud of my new electronic wizardry…all the while headed in the wrong direction.
Enter Pslam 119.105. “Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
My path needed lighting, because it was darkened by my own understanding.
You see where this is headed? My incident with Onstar provides a great working metaphor for our walk with God. In our own hubris, we plot our course and make life’s decisions – all without an invitation to our God to lead the way; to shed His Light.
How does your path look? Are you headed in the right direction? How do you know? Let’s join the Psalmist on a well-lit path; enlightened by his Word; brightened by his sacrament of Holy Communion!
Allow God’s Word to be a Lamp and Light and you personally experience what happens in you when light meets darkness!
I look forward to seeing you in worship,
Pastor Karl
