The Overly Needy
However you define them, the overly needy person lives life like an emotional black hole. You may keep pouring the Light of hope, assistance, care or time, but it seems to be swallowed up by and almost voluntary darkness. At best they are looking for symptom relief rather than deep, substantive change. At the end of the day, the overly-needy seems to kind of befriend their plight rather than openly receive the Light.
The Temptation to offer a “Quick Fix” is typically present in those seeking to help and those asking to be helped. Both look for/hope for a short cut solution to avoid the more comprehensive work of transformation from within!
For example, Jesus is preaching about deep spiritual concerns like hypocrisy, fear and public proclamation of one’s personal faith – when out of the blue someone shouts out, “…tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” Jesus refuses to be sucked into the family debate (thus avoiding the “quick fix” temptation) continues on preaching about the effects of greed (thus addressing the comprehensive work of spiritual transformation). Read Luke 12 for yourself. It’ll prepare you for the message on Sunday!
PELC Sunday: Honoring the Teachers of Our 1 Year Olds
Monthly we’re honoring a part of the Early Learning Center staff and by asking them to introduce themselves to the congregation and accept a small gift as a token of our appreciation for bringing the Grace of God to bear in our children. We’ll honor Vanessa M, Vanessa T, Mayra and Cheyenne and send them into their work with our blessing! Be sure to make time to introduce yourself and say “thank you” for their weekday service to the Lord via PELC!
