Rejoicing in the Lord’s Mercy
You are Guilty!
Did you do it?
Is it your irresponsibility that caused this?
Did you forget?
What are you hiding?
You’re lying!
You’re not providing the whole story.
It’s your fault!
You’ll never amount to anything.
You’re a failure.
Did you cheat?
These internally driven and externally experienced accusations (and many more like them) are a part of our daily human existence that wreaks havoc on the soul. Our guilt, either real or perceived, can be spiritually and physically debilitating.
This is what is reported by Psalm 32
“When I kept it all inside,
my bones turned to powder,
my words became daylong groans.
The pressure never let up; all the juices of my life dried up.” (The Message)
You’ll be delighted, even thrilled to know these accusations – and millions more – were all pointed at Jesus! But even more amazing – even mystifying – it was the accusatory finger-pointing of the Father at the Son that laid on him the guilt of us all.
Sunday is the celebration of the Father’s Love and the Father’s motive to clear your name, remove your guilt and refresh your soul.
Sunday, it’s all about mercy!
