What’s your thoughts?
Should the Word of God “make sense?” Should it have reasonable, predictable patterns? Or, is the Kingdom of God more about surprises, paradoxes and unpredictability?
The pastoral answer is, of course, yes.
There are many places in Scripture where clear linear thinking is commended. Luke 14.25f instructs disciples to exercise clear planning and strategic thinking.
The parables of Jesus about the mustard seed and leaven, however, are about the small beginnings that lead to astounding growth which produce surprising transformation and cause our eyes to widen – because most of what happens in the Kingdom is stuff only God can do!
Make Wednesday evening worship a part of your Lent preparation.
Arrive about 6PM and share a light supper with fellow disciples of Jesus. Walk to the sanctuary a few minutes early to cast your anxieties and cares for the day on Jesus. Then, let’s worship together and discover together how Jesus’ stories can have such lasting impact on so many for so long and accomplish so much for the Kingdom of God!
I look forward to seeing you in worship Wednesday evening!
