Marriage enrichment – november 9, 2018 6-8pm

Karl and Marilouise will be facilitating another marriage enrichment event from 6:30-8pm on Friday, November 9th – “I See You.” We’ll have conversations on our greatest desire and greatest fear – to be known! It’s about the risks and work it takes to get to know each other. We’ll use quotes from Pastor Timothy Keller’s book, “The Meaning of Marriage” to guide our conversation. Consider this example:
“To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us out of our self-righteousness, and fortifies us for any difficulty life can throw at us.”
This is a free workshop for PELC parents and people of Peace; the third of four monthly events! Karl is a pastor with a M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy and a doctorate in leadership. Marilouise is a Physical Therapist with a love for health and wellness. They have three children and ten grandchildren. A light dinner will be served for the whole family from 6-6:30p (freewill donation).  Children age 3 through 4th grade will have their own activities and child care will be provided for birth through 2 yrs. Pre-registration is required. Please sign up on the sheet on the board in the church lobby or by the entrance to our Early Learning Center. You may also sign-in by emailing your names, phone number and the ages of your children to info@peacelutherannaples.org. The Power of Purpose!

The 9/9/18 meeting was a great success.

Blue Zone meeting at Peace 9/9/18

We are participating in the Blue Zones Project which is a community-wide well-being improvement initiative to help make healthy choices easier for everyone in Southwest Florida.

As it turns out, People with purpose live longer, are happier and more productive. Are you making a difference where you live and work? Each person has an individual set of strengths and talents that can be used to lead a truly meaningful life. Whatever your role within your community, begin adding years to your life and life to your years.
You’ll have the opportunity to discover or re-discover your gifts and talents, learn how to navigate through life’s transitions, and improve your well-being by living your purpose.
Begin your purpose journey and attend a free Blue Zones facilitated Power of Purpose Workshop on Sunday Sept 9th at 11:30 am following brunch.
For registration or further information, please contact Suzanne at 239-330-1815 or email your name to info@peacelutherannaaples.org.  Children’s program also available (RSVP/pre-registration required): Birth-2 years; 3-5 years; and K-4th grade.  Looking forward to discovering the power of purpose together.
Please come and join us in worship – Beginning September 9th, we’ll get focused on purpose!
More specifically, we’ll get focused on God’s purpose – and be blessed by it! We’ll be answering the question posed by Rick Warren’s book, “What on Earth Am I Here For?”
The topic is relevant and powerful at any age. The calling of our Lord becomes tailored to our circumstances, our gifts and his mission! Each portion of our life cycle – each and every life-stage can be blessed by pausing and asking, “What’s my purpose here, now?”
On September 9th we’ll start with the question, “Where does it all begin?” We’ll launch from Colossians 1.16 and Paul’s declaration of Christ at the center.
Then, after worship and brunch, we’ll gather to be led in a “Blue Zones Power of Purpose workshop” from 11:30-1:30p! We’re doing our best to invite our early learning families, so join us and invite your family and friends on purpose!
The “Blue Zones” is a research-based wellness project studying the longest living populations on the planet. Their research has led them to encourage nine healthy lifestyle habits – of which one is, purpose! Go online to blue zones.com for more information.
Then, on Friday, September 14th we’ll launch our first ever “Friday Family Experience” evening. From 6p – 6:30p we’ll serve an easy dinner. Then from 6:30p – 8p the children will be led by our Children’s Ministry leader, Pam Dissaro. She’ll take them through activities while the parents meet with Marilouise and me for 90 minutes of a Marriage Enrichment Experience. (Don’t fret husbands, we’ll not be asking any “touchie feelie” questions about intimacy! 🙂 Marilouise and I have led these throughout our ministry years and are looking forward to having some fun in this arena once again.
Here’s the rest of September’s Purpose-full Summary:
·       September 16: You Were Created to Become Like Christ
·       September 23: You Were Shaped for Serving God
·       September 30: You Were Made for a Mission!
See you Sunday and next Friday, Good Lord willing,
Pastor Karl

August 28, 2018 – collier county primary elections – polling place

Thanks to the many individuals that helped move chairs, setup, and take down the polling equipment over the past few days at Peace.  Tony Mount arrived early Tuesday morning at 5:30am to unlock the gate, unlock premises, and ensure plenty of hot fresh coffee was at hand.  William from the Collier County Elections Commission supervised the take-down and cleanup.  Thank you also to the movers, John-Paul and Mace, for putting the sanctuary chairs back in place.  Again, may THANKS TO Y’ALL, see you again in November on Election Day, if not sooner, how about this Sunday at the 10am worship service – God bless!
Peace is the new official polling location for Precinct 591. Precinct 591, for voters living in a portion of the 34120 zip code area, was previously located at the Collier County University Extension by the fairgrounds. This election includes Republican and Democratic primaries for the U.S. Senate, our Florida Governor, Attorney General, Commissioner of Agriculture, State Attorney, and Circuit Judge. Local races include the Collier County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, two County Commission seats, one County Judge, and two School Board seats.  There will also be an election question from the North Collier Fire Control and Rescue District regarding approving an annual non-ad valorem assessment to fund three new fire stations in the next five years, deferred maintenance, apparatus replacement, and restoration of reserve funds. The primary election is on Tuesday, August 28th.

Eagle Scout Troop 214 Project – Car Wash 4/14/18 fundraiser @ Peace Lutheran

Peace Lutheran proudly sponsors Naples Troop 214 of the Boy Scouts of America. They normally meet at the church twice monthly. As an Eagle Scout project, the troop washed cars and trucks to raise funds for a Memorial Garden to be built on church property. The photographs are from the car wash this past Saturday at the church. The car wash was a success, but the scouts could use additional funds for this worthy Eagle Scout initiative. While your vehicle may still be dirty, have it washed in spirit by making a donation via the church office. God Bless the Boy Scouts of America! God Bless Troop 214 of Naples!
