Hope Is Contagious Too

Even When The Odds Are Against Us
What else can go wrong?
We have all said that or some derivative – maybe lately. The pandemic has layered our busy, often complicated lives with multiples frustrations and fears that can magnify already existing issues (or birth new ones).
The paradox for the Christian is this can be the perfect opportunity for us to see God’s work – always present and always loving – but now visible with our open eyes and ears.
When the odds are stacked against us we are more ready to recognize it’s not us, but God at work. The story of Gideon from Judges 6 and 7 is just such an example. “The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me.’” We’ll journey with Gideon through some pretty incredible odds in this week’s message!
This weekend’s message is another reason why the resurrection event needs a whole Easter Season to celebrate and begin to comprehend the hope that is now ours in Jesus! The beauty of this hope is that it is contagious. The Holy Spirit injects hope that transforms us so that others can see or feel how God Loving Presence, always present, is sometimes most visible when the odds are stacked against us!
Peace,
Karl
